The Chinese Ambassador to Maldives H.E. Mr. Wang Fukang meets with the Minister of Environment and Energy

On 5th August 2014, the Chinese Ambassador to Maldives H.E. Mr. Wang Fukang met with the Minister of Environment and Energy of Maldives, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim, and submitted the ‘Survey report on household waste disposal in Male’, the capital of Maldives’. This report is based on practical needs of the Maldives and completed by relevant Chinese authorities organized by the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives.

Ambassador Wang expressed that, being a famous tourist destination in the world, environmental protection is very important for sustainable socio-economic development of the Maldives, and that China is willing to actively develop cooperation with the Maldives in the area of environmental protection, jointly creating a good environment for the Maldivian people and the visitors from around the world.

Minister Thoriq noted that the Maldives highly appreciated the fact that the report was completed by the Chinese experts in such a short period of time, and expressed gratitude to the Chinese government and the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives for the strong support towards environmental protection in the Maldives, and stated that Maldives would further develop close cooperation with the Chinese side to improve the environmental condition and to benefit the people of the Maldives.
