I’m very glad to attend the Awards Ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games Quiz. First of all, I’d like to extend my warm congratulations on the full success of the Quiz, especially to the ten winners! I’d like to express my sincere thanks to the Maldives News Network for your hard work in organizing the event!
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games have come to a successful conclusion. This is a success not only for the people of China, but also for the people of the world. China has fulfilled its commitment to presenting the world a streamlined, safe and splendid Olympic Games and has been highly praised by the international community.The Beijing Winter Olympic Games have perfectly illustrated the new Olympic motto of "Faster, Higher, Stronger--Together", bringing warmth and hope to the people of the world in the shadow of Covid-19 pandemic, sowing the seeds of peace and friendship, and inspiring human beings to enhance unity, overcome difficulties and forge ahead together for a shared future.
I am very glad that PGA and Maldivian Foreign Minister H.E. Abdulla Shahid participated in the torch relay and attended the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, providing strong support for Beijing 2022. I am also glad to see the Maldivian people have shown great interest in Beijing Winter Olympics by closely following my twitter. All of us were touched time and again by the athletes' self-challenging courage and the noble Olympic Spirit. We have every reason to be confident in a peaceful, united and bright future for humanity!
It is the right time for us to hold the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games Quiz. The event received great attention, warm support and active participation. I can feel the enthusiasm of Maldivian people to learn about the Beijing Winter Olympics and the development of China. The Quiz has enhanced our mutual understanding between the two peoples and brought our hearts much closer.
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games Quiz is also an important part of Quiz Series to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between China and Maldives. For half a century, China and Maldives have always treated each other respectfully and equally, and have become a model of friendly exchanges and win-win cooperation. China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, Velana International Airport and social housing projects have brought tangible benefits to the Maldivian people and have become symbols of China-Maldives friendship. Early this year, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi paid a successful visit to Maldives. The two sides launched the 50th Anniversary celebration events and signed a series of cooperation documents, which is the best commemoration of the 50th anniversary of China-Maldives diplomatic relations and opens a new chapter for our bilateral relations.
Looking ahead, China-Maldives relations will embrace a bright future. We’ll take the 50th anniversary as an opportunity to organize a series of celebration activities and I look forward to the active and enthusiastic participation of people from all walks of life. Let’s bring together our wisdom and strength, deepen our friendship and cooperation and strive together for the shared future!
