Remarks by Ambassador Wang Fukang at the 5th Anniversary of Maldives Autism Association
(2015-01-26, Hiriya School)

Your Excellency Dr Waheed,

Madam Ilham,

Minister Adeeb,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is a great honour for me to attend the 5th Anniversary of Maldives Autism Association today.

As we all know, autism is one of the main challenges for children and families around the world.

In China, there are more than 1.6 million children with autism according to a recent study. The Chinese government is spending a lot to help these children and their families.

However, we in China do not forget our brothers and sisters in Maldives.

China wants to share its development with Maldives and the Chinese people want to achieve common prosperity with Maldivian people together.

During the visit of Madam Chen Zhili, Vice Chairperson of China’s National People’s Congress, to Maldives in 2012, China donated equipments like computers, projectors and toys worth more than 150,000 RMB to Maldives Autism Association.

We were very glad that these equipments have helped the work of the association and brought happiness to the children in Maldives.

Today, as China and Maldives are developing together to establish our Future-Oriented All-Round Friendly and Cooperative Partnership, we want to bring more benefits to the people in Maldives continuously.

Therefore, in 2015, we are sponsoring again the “WE CAN” project for Maldives Autism Association to expand its facilities and enhances its services for more children and families in Maldives.

We hope with such sponsorship, children with autism in Maldives can get better support, enjoy better life and have a better future, so that they can bear witness to the everlasting friendship and partnership between China and Maldives!

Thank you!
