Cooperation on fighting COVID-19 between China and Maldives

On 4th February 2020, the government of Maldives donated 1 million canned tuna to China as a gesture of goodwill extended towards the people of China by the people of Maldives.



On 27th March 2020, to support Maldives to fight Covid-19, a large number of medical supplies including Disposable Protective Masks, N95 Protective Masks, Goggles, etc donated by Yunnan Province, arrived in Male.



On 2nd May 2020, a chartered flight arrived in Male carrying a batch of medical supplies, including Ventilator, Sampling sticks, Medical Protective Suits, Medical Masks, etc, donated by MFA of China, Guangxi Province, Alibaba and the Chinese enterprises in the Maldives to help Maldivian people fight Covid-19.



On 25th & 30th March 2021, two batches of 200000 doses of vaccines and syringes, donated by Chinese Government, arrived in Male to help Maldivian government promote vaccination program and get people protected.



The donation of vaccines to Maldives is a concrete practice in fulfilling the Chinese President Xi Jinping’s commitment of China’s vaccines as a global public good. China will continue to enhance the cooperation in fighting against the pandemic for a complete victory with Maldives.



The mutual assistance between China and Maldives during the pandemic further boasted the traditional friendship between the people of the two countries. Looking into the future, our friendship and cooperation will surely embrace a brighter future with more fruitful outcomes.
